Labor Party

Labor Party
Industry City
Sunday, December 7, 2008
4 – 8 pm

Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn is in the midst of a transition. Once an important center for manufacturing and shipping, the area is being re-thought as a future hub for creative industries. As a part of this transition, we – a group of 24 artists – will take over one floor of a single building in this complex, a space of more than 30,000 square feet. We will transform this monumental space into an art project that takes the form of a party. We are the creative labor force, and this party is our work.

Your labor is also needed. Your job is to explore this space, to see, play, taste, drink, dance, talk, and listen. You will find us on 33rd St between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Brooklyn. Enter at door 55, and come to the 2nd floor.

Subway directions:
Take the N or D express train to 36th St (one stop after Atlantic Avenue). Exit out the front of the train and come up at 36th St and 4th Ave. Make a right on 36th and walk towards the expressway, cross under it and you’ll be at 36th St and 3rd Ave. Make a right on 3rd Ave and walk 3 short blocks to 33rd St where you will make a left. Door 55 is on the right-hand side of the street in the middle of the block.

Industry City Labor Party is organized as a part of the Brooklyn College graduate class ‘Collaborative Strategies,’ led by Jennifer McCoy and Michael Connor.
